Unit Head's Message

Under the special recommendation of Former Director General, Gunapala Nanayakkara a separate unit was established for Classical and foreign languages under the Department of Classical Languages, Foreign Languages and Bilingual Education on 06^th July 2015. Since then until now, all the necessary activities for 10 Classical and foreign languages in school system have been carried out in this unit for a period of six years.

The vision of Classical languages and foreign languages unit is to create a good and intelligent community to meet the national and international needs while valuing the localism. The educational materials are being developed and new educational reforms are being carried out to enhance the quality of the classical and foreign languages education in school system while endowing the country with unique human with 21^st century skills.

At present, there are six officers working in our unit including four academic staff and two non-academic staff. I am very pleased to mention that, all the staff of our unit is working with unity and enthusiasm to achieve our vision.
